First Women in
space

Valentina Tereshkova at the age of 26 years old became the first
woman to travel into space on June 16 on 1963, aboard of Vostok 6. This
happened during the Cold War between United States of America against the
Sovietic Union.
In February 1962, she
was selected with other three woman parachutists and a female pilot. This
amazing people began intensive training to become cosmonauts.

Valentina Tereshkova is one of
the forgotten heroes of the space age. At the first glorified and portrayed
as a symbol of the social enlightenment that communism offered, and then left
behind in the great era of Sovietic space exploration. After the
historic space fight, Valentina Tereshkova recived the Order of Lenin and
Hero of the Sovietic Union Award
